Un giorno
Giorgia Frigerio, Un giorno One day is a journal that creates a narrative starting from what happened during September 1st throughout the years. I decided to focus on Martha, thought to be the last wild pigeon died at Cincinnati zoo on September 1st 1904. At the beginning of the 19th century, the wild pigeon represented the largest bird population in the world. The enormous number also determined the rapid decline, man in fact decided to exploit this great resource by carrying out massive hunting and deforestation. In the lifetime of a human being, the specie went from a very large population to extinction. This story is visually associated with other events that happened on September 1, such as World War II beginning with Germanyโs invasion and bombing of Poland in 1939.
